Barulf are a race of beast-like humanoids hailing from the continent of Norsejord. Though their ancestry is a complicated issue, most attribute it to either werewolf ancestry or an ancient curse. Most barulf settling on Buldan are either of Midgardian or Galsburg nationality.


Barulf start walking and running by the time they reach 1 year of age, and reach physical maturity at around 15-16 years. The oldest barulf on record lived to be 450 years of age, though most live between 250-300 on average.


Barulf rarely stand below 6 feet. Their bodies range from lean and muscular to buff and heavy, with long arms and legs and skin tones varying from pale to olive and tan. Their forearms, hands and legs from the knees down are covered in fur and end in claws. Males have heavy facial hair and some grow manes that reach their shoulders. Some females have tails, though it’s not common and often believed to be product of a recessive gene. Their hair varies depending on their particular ethnicity, but most barulf settlers in Buldan are of Fenrisian or Blackfoot ethnicity, both having dark hair shades. Barulf eyes are commonly golden, grey or dull red, and have a bestial quality to them.

Racial Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and either your Wisdom or Constitution score increases by 1 (up to player’s choice).
Size. You are considered Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. Darkvision. Your augmented senses give you superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Smell. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Climate Tolerant. You have advantage on Constitution saving throws to resist the effects of harsh weather, be it extreme cold or extreme heat.
Pack Tactics. You have advantage on attack rolls against a creature if at least one barulf ally is within 5 feet of the creature and your ally is not incapacitated.
Languages. You can read, speak and write Common and one regional language of your choice. Additionally, you can communicate with other barulf via growls, howls and body language.
